Below is a complete list of 9/11-related illnesses eligible for the Victim Compensation Fund. The most common categories in that list are aerodigestive disorders, diseases that affect breathing airways (lungs) and the upper digestive tract, and cancers.

    Defined as “Any type of cancer diagnosed in a person less than 20 years of age.”

  • Rare Cancers

    Defined as “any type of cancer that occurs in less than 15 cases per 100,000 persons per year in the United States.” Some examples of cancer that meet the “rare cancer” definition include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Malignant neoplasm of the gallbladder/biliary tract
