The best thing about Barasch and McGarry: The people.
It’s easy to admire our incredible Barasch and McGarry leaders. An intelligent, compassionate, and earnest group of individuals, Barasch and McGarry’s leadership devotes themselves to building and supporting a strong organization and team so we can focus on our shared mission to improve lives and empower the voice of victims through education, outreach, and advocacy. We are so excited to announce and celebrate the achievements of some of our leaders today. Please join me in congratulating the following attorneys on their promotions [attorneys pictured clockwise, from top left]:
James Steiner: 9/11 VCF Practice Supervising Attorney
During his eight years at Barasch and McGarry Law Firm, James has excelled and graduated roles from legal assistant to claim administrator, attorney, and senior attorney. As an attorney, he has been recognized as handling some of the firm’s most complicated 9/11 VCF appeals on various matters of eligibility and compensation. His acknowledgments include being named by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the New York Metro Area every year from 2019 to the present. In addition to his success as an attorney advocating for the 9/11 community, James has worked closely with the 9/11 VCF Practice Managing Attorney to oversee the VCF PI attorney claim submission review and hearing processes. Praised for his poise and expertise in navigating the ever-changing complexities of the 9/11 VCF Practice, the staff rely on James’ guidance to address the most unique, particular and challenging clients and circumstances. James has devoted himself to teaching and counseling others so they may learn, develop, and better contribute to the firm’s mission to serve the 9/11 community. We know James will only continue to grow as a leader and expert resource for the organization in his new role as 9/11 VCF Practice Supervising Attorney.
Rebecca Forman: Senior Attorney
Specializing in wrongful death claims, Rebecca has helped families of 9/11 victims receive compensation allowing them to keep their homes, send children to college, and save for retirement. Her enduring commitment to the 9/11 community and expertise in VCF Policy has guaranteed millions of dollars for grieving families. Rebecca’s words are powerful. She is a constant resource for her colleagues, helping formulate the right words for clients to offer comfort and guidance through a painful and difficult process. We are grateful for Rebecca’s work as she furthers her services to the organization and brings her extensive skillset to the Surrogate’s Court team.
Travis Carter: Senior Attorney
Unwavering in his determination to help the 9/11 community, Travis uses his expertise as a litigator to fight for those with difficult circumstances to gain access to the compensation and health benefits they need. Regardless of how challenging the client’s documentation is, Travis uses his years of experience to develop a case for the VCF and obtain the compensation and resources they are due. A fierce leader, Travis’ colleagues know they can count on him to advise them amid the most complex claims. We proudly observe Travis continue his advocacy for victims as he works with Camp Lejeune clients.
Trevor Taylor: Senior Attorney
During Trevor’s tenure with Barasch and McGarry Law Firm, his name has become synonymous with 9/11 community advocate. His expert knowledge of the VCF policies and client experience has helped countless members of the 9/11 community to feel supported and represented and maximize their resources, including securing millions of dollars and protecting their economic security in a time of difficulty. Trevor is an invaluable resource for his colleagues, quick to master new information and always offering help wherever needed. We can’t wait to see Trevor continue to expand his influence and take on new initiatives as a Senior Attorney.
