Michael Barasch Addresses Delegates at UFOA Education Seminar

June 15, 2016 | Michael Barasch

Mike Barasch was invited to address the delegates at the UFOA Education Seminar. Mike spoke about the legal rights and compensation available to all first responders who have been diagnosed with any of the 68 cancers linked to the WTC toxic dust. He reviewed the cancer findings reported by Dr. Kerry Kelly of the Bureau of Health Services. Skin cancer and prostate cancer are the most prevalent cancers found among firefighters since 9/11.

Mike also asked the delegates to help spread the word– especially to retired firefighters— about the 2 year deadline to register cancer claims with the Victim Compensation Fund. In order to be eligible for compensation, anyone diagnosed with cancer must register a claim with the VCF within 2 years of the date of their cancer diagnosis (generally, the date of the pathology report).
