Barasch & McGarry Calls on Congress to Fully Fund the World Trade Center Health Program: Explosion of Cancers Causing $3 Billion Shortfall
Over the years, Barasch & McGarry has advocated relentlessly for the 9/11 community’s right to free health care and compensation. Now, we need your help.
While the Victim Compensation Fund has been fully funded until 2090, due to an explosion of cancers in the 9/11 community, the World Trade Center Health Program is estimated to have a $3 billion deficit by 2032. Without proper funding, the Health Program will be forced to start making major cutbacks and stop accepting new members in two years.
We can’t let that happen. More people have now died of 9/11 illnesses than the 2,776 who died in the attacks, and thousands are battling life-threatening illnesses. The EPA lied when it told us that the “air [was] safe to breathe.” Our government has a moral obligation to fully fund the Health Program to help those it placed in harm’s way.
The bipartisan 9/11 Responder and Survivor Health Funding Correction Act would fully fund the Health Program until 2090.
So many in the 9/11 community rely on this lifesaving health coverage, and any cutbacks could cost lives. I urge you to reach out to your representatives in Congress and demand that they support the 9/11 Responder and Survivor Health Funding Correction Act (S. 2683/H.R.4965).
