Barasch & McGarry Mourns as 343rd FDNY Member Passes Away from 9/11 Illness
Michael Barasch, Managing Partner of Barasch & McGarry, released the following statement on learning that the 343rd FDNY member had passed away as a result of a 9/11-related illness.
“Today, FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh announced that we have lost our 343rd FDNY member to a 9/11 illness.
“This tragic news was not unexpected, but it is truly heartbreaking. The number of cancer and respiratory illness deaths resulting from toxic exposure at Ground Zero now equals the number of FDNY members who were killed in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
“The figure of 343 deaths does not even include the countless FDNY retirees who volunteered in the rescue operations after the attacks and who have passed away from the exact same 9/11-related illnesses.
“As members of the 9/11 community, we mourn all 9/11 responders who have died as a result of their toxic exposure at the World Trade Center site.”
Barasch & McGarry, Lawyers for the 9/11 Community, represents more than 35,000 9/11 responders and survivors.
